The system of linked repeaters requires keying up and waiting one to two seconds before speaking due to the time it takes to link the repeaters.

The 146.640 repeater is off the air.

What is HCARES?
The Humboldt County Amateur Radio Emergency Service is a group of motivated amateur radio operators trained and ready to handle emergency traffic when all other modes of communication are down.

The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes. Every licensed amateur, regardless of membership in ARRL(Amateur Radio Relay League) or any other local or national organization, is eligible for membership in the ARES. The only qualification, other than possession of an Amateur Radio license, is a sincere desire to serve.

Become an amateur radio operator and begin the journey of a lifetime!
